The Bomar Access Hatch Aluminium Tread Plate range provides heavy-duty, walk-on access to lockers, anchor wells, engine bays and other void spaces, combining a marine-grade anodised aluminium tread plate cover with a welded aluminium frame and 316 stainless steel hardware. Each hatch is secured by a 316 stainless steel dog fastener with a latch position indicator, operated via a flush 'D' handle for fast, one-handed removal and replacement of the cover. All dog fasteners are recessed into the hatch cover so chains, cables or rope will not snag on them. A Delrin bushing allows for smooth dog operation while isolating the stainless steel dog fasteners from the aluminium plate, preventing galvanic corrosion between the dissimilar metals. A BUNA-N o-ring is fitted, approved for use in petroleum and chemical environments. The compressed gasket deflects against the frame walls to keep the cover centred in the frame opening, and its multiple point loading profile resists leakage even under dynamic water pressure. A return bend in the frame profile stops the gasket from over-compressing under heavy loads placed on the hatch cover. A 316 stainless steel hex drive tool is available to suit — the handle features a blunt end and a screwdriver top for breaking ice or clearing debris from the dogs of the 'D' handle (sold separately, see related products) .
