The HyDrive 516FM Front-Mount Steering Kit combines the standard Model 401 helm with the new 516FM front-mount cylinder, offering a complete hydraulic steering package suited to single outboards up to 200HP, or dual counter-rotating outboards up to 400HP total. The Model 401 helm is the standard unit used across the all-new Commander series, built to last at an affordable price using specialised materials engineered by HyDrive's own team. It features a sleek, modern shape suited to contemporary console designs, a front-mount design for maximum appeal, and a hi-tech composite alloy housing that's stronger than aluminium and totally corrosion resistant for maximum exposure to the elements. Improved internal efficiency delivers smooth, powerful operation. The 516FM cylinder uses the same materials and technology to deliver a powerful front-mount cylinder at a highly competitive price, without compromising on quality or performance. It features an all-new cylinder barrel construction for increased strength in a compact design, an anodised high tensile aluminium body for performance and protection, and precision ground and polished 316 stainless steel piston rods for maximum service life, unlike chrome-plated lower-grade stainless which can flake and damage seals. As a complete kit, the 516FM and 401 helm combination is supplied with everything required for installation and first fill, so no separate parts need to be sourced to complete the fit-out.
