SHOCKWAVE S5-SS STAINLESS STEEL SUSPENSION SEAT BASE
Available to order for collect — supplier, typically 2–10 business days
The S5 Suspension Bases absorb wave shock and can help prevent high-impact and cumulative injury. They can be installed on any boat, bringing Shockwave technology to people who want to stay out longer, fish/play harder and keep comfortable. In any conditions, Shockwave has your back. Welded construction using electropolished 316 stainless steel to last a lifetime, the Shockwave S5-SS is best suited for salt water environments with high salinity, humidity, and moderate to heavy sea conditions. Fitted with a FOX Rhythm air spring and shock with adjustable rebound and compression, suspension travel is 4-inch vertical and 1.5-inch forward, using a four-link forward action, mitigating deceleration associated with wave impact. Recreational boaters can now stay out longer and travel farther with less fatigue. It is easily and quickly installed in virtually any boat and can be mounted on a riser box or a short, stocky pedestal with minimal effort. The maximum occupant weight for the S5-SS Suspension Base is 136kgs (300lbs). Each seat base is supplied with the necessary Shock Pump & Gauge to operate the S5 suspension base. Features: Improved performance and strength Increased lateral stability Designed and manufactured in Canada Custom tuned and valved, fully adjustable marine FOX Rhythm shock absorber Suspension travel: 4-inch vertical / 1.5-inch forward Mitigating deceleration associated with wave impacts Adjustable compression and rebound rate Minimal parts count and simple construction Electropolished welded 316-grade stainless steel construction Stable 8 pivot design for higher loads and a smoother ride Easy to mount and adapt to current seating Best for professional mariners use in heavy seas Supplied with required Shockwave Shock Pump & Gauge to operate. Shock Compression Adjustment Settings: Setting the sag height is designed to be a starting point. To get the most out of the suspension base the shock absorber can be fine-tuned. This is done using a combination of compression and rebound tuning to optimize ride quality as well as for varying sea conditions. The suspension base comes with a 2 or 3 position blue lever that is designed to make quick adjustments to optimize the performance of the shock absorber in varying sea conditions. You can select three settings: Soft mode: For operating in flat water and light chop where the likelihood of experiencing a slam is low. Mostly inshore use. Gives a soft ride. Medium mode: For operating in moderate to rough conditions where some slamming could occur. Gives a medium ride. Firm mode: For operating in big seas and at higher speeds where regular slamming will occur. Gives a firm ride. Rebound Adjustment Rebound controls the rate of speed at which the shock returns to the sag position after compressing. The rebound adjustment is dependent on the air pressure setting. Higher pressure requires slower rebound settings. Use the procedure below to find the correct rebound setting. Faster Rebound: In high frequency and small wave activity, a faster rebound can improve your suspension performance. Turning the red rebound adjuster counter-clockwise will make the seat rebound faster. Slower Rebound: In low frequency and large wave activity, a slower rebound can improve your suspension performance. Turning the red rebound adjuster clockwise will make the seat rebound slower.
